February 2009
Dear Friends,
After so many years the time has come to let go of something that has been so much a part of my life. Terri and I have decided to close the “Paper” fan club.
In Back in the ‘70’s I didn’t want a fan club. That is why it was always called “The Friends of Rex Allen Jr.”. It was started in Illinois, moved to Texas and spent it’s last years in Wichita, Kansas under the leadership of Nadine Hilbert and Terri Maynard. Both Terri and Nadine did such a marvelous job in keeping it alive and well through the changing times of my career and the birth of the internet. The three of us, Terri, Nadine and me, almost changed it to only the internet ten years ago, but decided not to because the internet was in it’s infancy. Also, so many of you didn’t have access to the internet. Now most if not all do.
With the passing of Nadine in December, Terri and I have decided that the time has come to go all digital. Both Terri and I know that Nadine was a real driving force that kept in touch with most of you on a regular basis. Nadine wrote many a letter to you all over the years. She was all our friend and what a wonderful legacy she leaves behind for us all. Like you, Terri and I are so saddened by her passing. But, when I think of her I smile at the good times we had together. She took many a great picture of me and my family. Those pictures and her memory will walk with me the rest of my life.
Terri and I still love all of you that have been so loyal for all these many years and we hope you all will continue to be a part of our lives at www.rexallenjr.com.
God Bless Nadine Hilbert and Terri Maynard. Me and my family thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Rex
