Thought to be one of the largest contingencies of
American children to ever travel to mainland China at one time, close to 50
children, their sponsors and teachers will join Rex Allen Jr. and travel to
China in April 2006 to perform at concerts across China.
“The Great American Cowboy China Concert Tour”, March 26th. - April 2, 2006 will
perform at major concert venues starting in San Francisco and traveling on to
the Great Wall of China, Beijing and Shanghai. At the invitation of the Peoples
Republic of China Cultural Ministry, Prairie Rose Entertainment has been invited
to bring the culture of the Great American Cowboy to China for the first time in
Chinese history.
Rex Allen Jr. and Johnny Western of “Paladin” fame will join host band The
Prairie Rose Wranglers for this historic event. “The plan for the show is to
showcase both old and new Western Music and our Great American Western Heritage
to our new friends in China” says Rex. “There are a lot of friendly folks in
China and with the help of the children from Wichita, Kansas I hope to show the
Chinese People that The Music of The West transcends all cultures.”
Rex is now completing a New CD titled “The New West”. “There are some classic
Western Songs, New Western Songs and New Classic Western songs on the new CD. It
will be ready to go by this fall with distribution in China to coincide with the
tour there” says Rex.
“The New West” contains such classics as “Streets of Laredo” and “Along The
Navajo Trail” to new classics like “Ride Cowboy Ride” and “Desperado”. The CD
was recorded in Wichita, Kansas at Prairie Rose Recording with Jim Farrell
co-producing and engineering. Rex adds “I am very proud of this project. I feel
in my heart that my Dad, Roy Rogers and Bob Nolan were standing there in the
studio with me leading the way to “The New West”.
Starz Western Channel, CNN and an independent production company are filming the
concert series for distribution in the United States and around the world. And
the Peoples Republic of China is already talking about an extended tour of 30 or
more dates in 2007.
