A message from the Greene County Foundation

The Phil Harris - Alice Faye Scholarship Foundation has raised over $450,000.00 for scholarships with the event that started in 1979. After the end of Phil's life in 1995, the event continued with the Friend's of Phil Golf Tourney.

Roy Clark agreed to return for the Golf Tournament and offered to do a benefit performance during that same weekend (it is always the first weekend after Memorial Day).  Sponsorship of the show, An Evening With Roy Clark, was picked up by the Greene County Foundation, an organization that supports all charities in our County. Since the inception of the Greene County Foundation in 1996, it has raised an additional $7,000,000.00 dollars with the Show and all of its other fund raising activities.  A significant amount of this money has been received by various "matching" and "grant" programs offered by the Lilly Endowment in Indianapolis as well as many benevolent people in this area..

Rex's participation in the June 1st weekend event in Linton, Indiana, has helped support many worthy causes in the Greene County area.  Of special interest, I think, is that during the years of  Chicago's WLS Radio program, The Barn Dance, Rex's father was a visitor to Greene County many times. We sincerely appreciate Rex sharing his talent with us. We will always be grateful.

Sincerely,
Don Steward, O.D.
President, Greene County Foundation
