November 11, 2010 Hello To All, Well, the year is almost over! Deanna and I are making Christmas reservations and plans for Thanksgiving here at home in Vegas. And yes, Deanna has a birthday this month. The year ended for me in Iowa on a date with LeRoy Vandyke at a casino, and Willcox was a blast. Johnny Western and Jimmy Fortune helped make the 59th Rex Allen Days a great success. Jimmy stole the show! What a great singer and songwriter he is. My friend Bix Crary and I got to share the stage with him and go back to our Rock N Roll roots with the three of us doing “Peaceful Easy Feeling”. It was a dream come true for all of us. Maddie Allen (my Dad’s Grand Daughter) showed that the singing gene has been passed down! She even shared the stage with Aimee Jude Allen, Dad’s other Grand Daughter for her song. What a treat. Cody sang a Randy Travis song and Logan tore up the house with his music. My Dad would have been so proud. Of course Deanna produced the show and tried to keep us all-straight. She had some help from two of our sons Wade and Marcus for that though. The Boys came in from Texas. Marcus brought his new bride Julia. What a parade it was on Saturday. See you next year for the 60th!!! Deanna and I go back to Willcox for the Christmas Parade December 4th. We really enjoy that a lot. I don’t start performing until January and I’ll get those dates to you very soon. All are in the Phoenix area. In other news, I plan to spend the remainder of the year traveling. Europe, Tennessee and California. The Europe Trip is a business trip and I will be in the air longer than I will be in Germany. Deanna is doing well. We moved into a new house in September and along with her job, she has been putting the home together. It’s a big job, but finally about finished. She works much too hard, but is really in her prime. She looks great and is at the top of her field. Wade and Grandson Colby are doing fine in Texas. Colby is quite a boy. He keeps Wade on his toes! At three, he is talking like an adult and will be happy to correct you when you try and pull one over on him! He’s just like his Dad. Marc and Julia are now married. Deanna and I plan to throw them a Las Vegas wedding this spring here at the house. That will be fun! Marc is in the Landscaping business and Julia is working on her nursing degree. Wyatt, Rachel and the grand kids are fine. I was back to see them when I worked Pigeon Forge. I spent several days in Nashville. Wyatt is working in the Health Care business not too far from their home. Jackson is just like his Dad. Plays video games and beats his parents. When last I saw Mary Fletcher she had just learned to roll over. I’ll see them Christmas. Rachel looks great! She’s a good mom. Cody is in Knoxville at the University of Tennessee. He finishes College in the spring. He will be the last! He’s doing fine, and is coming to Vegas with me after Christmas. He and Logan are spending New Years Eve in Los Angeles. Logan is now living in LA. He has been on Glee, Icary and lots of other shows. He’s on the three month movie shoot now. That’s really great. When he gets me a copy of his “head shot” I’ll pass it on to you all. Well, that’s about it for now. For me, it has been a long year. Two deaths, a grand daughter and a new daughter-in-law. I wonder what 2011 will bring? I hope that all our dreams come true in 2011. Now that I am 63 the sunrises and sunsets seem so much more important and so much prettier. May you all have a Happy Holiday Season. Warm Regards, Rex |
