July 12, 2010 Hello To All, No, I have not died!!! Just been very busy with a new company and so much more. My year began in frenzy. As many of you know, I do a lot of dates in Arizona and this year was no exception. The months of January, February and March were spent in that beautiful state. Probably the most fun was six dates I got to work with my friends Johnny Western and Charlie Rich Jr. We had great crowds and more laughs than we were entitled to have. Hopefully in 2012 we will be able to do it all again. Johnny will be in Willcox along with Jimmy Fortune for Rex Allen Days. Join us if you can. We lost my Aunt Con (My Mother’s sister) on March 20th. I was with her holding her hand when she went. I think she was probably the last regular member of the National Barn Dance in Chicago to pass. Then on March 22nd Deanna lost her father. She had been there the week before while he was in the hospital. The 23rd we left for Texas to bury her Dad. Then back to California to bury my Aunt April 6th. On February 7th I got on a plane to Nashville for the birth of our first Grand Daughter Mary Fletcher Allen. She was born the morning of the 7th and I was holding her in my arms the 8th. She is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen! Rachel is doing well. She’s glowing! She is a great Mom and Wyatt is a great Dad. Three year old Jackson really doesn’t get it all yet. I think to him, he has a new dog! Then in May Deanna and I had two graduate from College. Wyatt got his Masters from The Owen School of Business at Vandy in Nashville. Then the next day Logan graduated with Honors from Belmont University. Cody graduates in December from UT Knoxville. Wade and Colby are living life to the fullest. Deanna tries to get down to see her Grandson as much as she can. They all grow so fast. Colby is talking up a storm. He is so cute. What a joy. Wade is working as best he can in this economy. In case you haven’t noticed, its tough out there folks for all of us. But, he is keeping the wolf from the door. Wyatt, Rachel, Jackson and Mary Fletcher are living life. I remember those days! Wyatt started his new job in Health Care and Rachel has the toughest job……putting up with a three year old! Like Colby, he swims pretty much every day. Mary Fletcher is perfect! Rachel is a great mom too. Cody is in Knoxville taking summer classes so that he can graduate in December. Still doing International Business and Accounting. He has a problem with Spanish, but to be quite honest, I failed at every language I tried! He’s doing fine though and should graduate with honors. Logan is out of College and spending the summer with Cody. His plans are to have his first novel finished by the end of the summer and then move to the Los Angeles area. He’s going to work on the acting and singing business there in Hollywood, The boy has a lot of talent. He speaks fluent Spanish and I have been trying to get him to audition for the Spanish Networks. I guess that I’m the only one left… As many of you know, I have been persuing my dream of bringing back the old Singing Cowboy Movies. I even had “The Cowboys Network” up on the Internet for about four months. Long story short, I ran into problems with one of the partners and had to re-work the entire business. Marcus and Julia are fine too. Julia is a nurse’s assistant and Marc is working and hunting. I gave Marc my Dad’s Ford Truck and he has it in tiptop shape. They are thinking of moving back west. Julia’s family is out this way. It would be nice to have them closer. Well, I guess that leaves only me……… As many of you know it has long been a dream of mine to bring back the “Singing Cowboy” movies of the 30’s 40’ and 50’s. I have worked very hard over the last year and a half to make that happen. I even had a web site up for a while called “The Cowboys Network”. Well, I have not lost the dream, only a partner. If all goes as planned, everything should be back up and running before the end of the month of July. The wonderful thing about those old movies is how they are being received through out the world. It is going to be a lot of fun to see a new generation of children and adults going back to better times with those films. As to dates….well its tough out there for entertainers too. I have a few booked and I hope that I see you soon. Going back to the Boone County Fair this year. The Best County Fair in America. See you there. Rex
