A message from Rex

August 2004

Hello to All,

Well, the summer finally began. But the first two weeks was probably the hardest, from a travel standpoint, that I have ever worked.

I began in Belvedere, IL. with “Country Gold.” It was my sixth year there and I hope I get to go again next year. Al and all the Fair Board are really kind people. They also feed us good there!

Then it was off to Nashville to do an on camera Voice Over for David Frizzell and Jet Williams for an up coming TV special. The next day Logan and I drove to Montgomery to see Wyatt pitch. Back that night and the next day off to Wichita.

The Prairie Rose is always a pleasure to work. The Prairie Wranglers are a great group to sing with. It sure is fun to be able to sing some of the songs from the original “Singing Cowboy” album. I think that we are going to do a new western CD there at the Prairie Rose. It is always good to see Johnny Western while I am there too. He and I do a version of Streets of Laredo that would make my father happy.

From there I was off to Bathe, NY and another date with Country Gold. I had forgotten that I had worked there before in my “youth” with my band “The Country Travelers.” I remembered that it snowed!!! Not this time though. Cool but a great show and a great crowd.

In the news. The wedding of our oldest Wade and his bride Chris was just beautiful. The service was outside and Sarah and I sang. Deanna was stunning and I was so proud of all the boys. Marcus was the best man and Cody and Logan were ushers. Lots of friends and family. Chris couldn’t have been prettier. We are sure glad to have her in the family. Be sure and check out the wedding picture on the site in September.

In late June Logan and I went to Texas. I performed in Carthage. Those of you that were there got to see something special. Logan performed with me on stage for the first time. He was great! Nice to know that there is another Allen in the wings. A special thanks to Charles Thomas for all his help and kindness.

Marcus is in Texas working for his father and Wade. Miss him not being here in Vegas, but he is doing well. Cody’s summer job was at Channel 3 here in town. He worked in the production department and after only three days was doing voiceovers for the station. I wonder where he got that talent?! Wyatt is in Birmingham with the Barons in AA. He has had a pretty good year, but he got injured and was on the DL for about six weeks. He fractured his back. Ouch! He and Rachel get married in November. I’m the best man.

Deanna has been so busy and I am so proud of her. She took the two week accelerated Real Estate course and passed the test the third week. She has already sold her first house! I know that she will be very successful. She is smart and a go-getter. She looks so good too. What a beautiful woman.

Have you been watching CMT? Yep, that is me doing the voiceover for “Country Music’s most Famous feuds." The Mahindra Tractor commercials are also running on ESPN. They are one of the sponsors of the PRCA this year.

I am going to retire the “Black and White” CD. What I have is all that there are ever going to be. So, if you want one now is the time. I have two new CD’s in the works and hope to have them ready by Christmas.

Fun stuff. I have re-connected with some of my old High School buddies. We are going to get together at the Reno Air Show in September. Several of us are pilots and the Reno Show is one that I have always wanted to attend. Should be fun.

I also can’t wait to see as many of you as possible this summer and fall. Try and make it to one of the shows. Stay COOL!

Rex
