A message from Rex

October 2005

Hello,

Welcome to Fall 2005! The weather has finally broken here in Las Vegas. Only 80 today. That’s a lot better than it was several weeks ago.

From now to earlier! Rex Allen Days was great. We had lots of people and the shows were some of the best ever. Pedro was his usual self. Sarah Shelton was singing at the top of her form and Barbara Fairchild was everything I knew she would be. What a talented lady. They work me pretty hard there, but I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Guy Ashley of Tucson television fame filmed a special that ran the week after the event. I just got a chance to see it today. I am going to try and have it put on the web. We’ll see.

Before Rex Allen Days I have been all over the map. From the Boone County Fair to Des Moines to Wichita to Florida. And next year looks like I’ll be out and about again. It was sure good to see everybody this summer. And I’m sorry that I missed others. There is always next year.

Speaking of next year…..Deanna and I are off to China with Johnny Western and the Prairie Rose Wranglers. We leave around March 29 and return 10 days later. There will be press releases on the web for you to keep track of before we go.

Read more about the China trip >

I have finished the new CD called “The New West”. It will be available before Christmas. I think it is one of the top 3 CD’s I have ever done. It contains some old Western songs and some new ones. There is even the entire version of “Ride Cowboy Ride” with the two lost verses. I hope you enjoy it. I had a great time putting it together. Thanks to Jim Farrell for all the hard work. Two new CD’s in one year. WOW!

The New West CD started its life as a CD for China. It looks like we will be going to China to perform for the next three years. Then next tour is with a 100 piece symphony. There will be another Western CD in 2006. I have been working on the concept for it now.

I am going to do another narration. This one is for the BBC. They are coming to Las Vegas in November and have told me that it will be shown on the Discovery Channel here in the US next year and well as World Wide.

The film Buckaroo is in the editing process. I had a small part in the film and was also the Music Director. Hopefully it will be out sometime early next year.

Yesterday was a really good day. I am doing another film in November. This one is called “The Town That Banned Christmas”. I play a reporter and am doing a song in the picture. I go to New York in about four weeks. It probably won’t be out ‘till this time next year. Fun Huh?

In family news. Deanna is working too hard. She is selling high rise here in Las Vegas and doing very well. However, she plans to be on the road with me more next year. I sure hope so and those of you that know her hope so too! I’m beginning to think that the only reason some one asks me to perform somewhere is so that they can see Deanna!

Wade and his wife Chris are in Texas. Thank goodness they were nowhere near the hurricanes. Chris has gone back to school to get her degree. Wade’s business is going great guns. I am so proud of him. He is a hard worker and a kind and generous man. A real credit to Deanna.

Wyatt and his wife Rachel are alive and well in Knoxville, Tennessee. Wyatt had the Tommy Johns surgery July 1st. The rehab is about 8 months, so he went back to UT to work on finishing his degree. He should be ready to go with Pittsburgh at spring training in Florida. Rachel is working and looking into business opportunities for them in Tennessee.

Marcus is in Texas too. He is working with Wade and his father. Deanna and I are hearing distant wedding bells. He and his girlfriend Julia are making noises about taking the step. Maybe before the end of the year. Julia is in Nursing school and Marcus is going back to school too. Seems to be a trend doesn’t it. Maybe I should too!

Cody and Logan are alive and well in Nashville. They are seniors in High School this year. Hard to believe. It seems like only yesterday Deanna and I were changing diapers. Both the boys are singing in the Choir and acting in the school plays. They should have a CD out by the fall of next year. Maybe one of them will take over Rex Allen Days!

In the past, I use to slow down at this time of year. But for the last several years that doesn’t hold true. This year I will be busy right up ‘till Christmas and start all over again in January. Thank you all for supporting me all these years. Without you all it wouldn’t be worth it.
